Questions we get every week
What does a move actually cost?
Local moves are priced by the hour, based on how many movers and how many trucks the job needs. Long-distance moves are priced for the whole job. What changes the number is stairs, walking distance, how much is packed when we arrive, and any heavy or awkward pieces. Give us ten minutes and we will give you a real figure, not a range.
Do you take a deposit?
No. Your date is held once we confirm it. You pay when the job is done.
Do I need to buy blankets, wrap or tape?
Not for the furniture. Moving blankets, shrink wrap, tape, dollies and straps come on the truck and are included. If you want us to supply boxes and packing paper for your own things, we can bring those too — just say so when we quote.
How far ahead should I book?
Two to three weeks is comfortable. The end of the month, the first weekend, and anything in summer fills up first, so call early if your date is fixed. If you are moving this week, still call — we keep room for short notice.
Can you move a piano, a gun safe or a treadmill?
Usually yes, and it is priced separately because it needs the right crew and equipment. Tell us the make, the weight if you know it, and whether there are stairs at either end.
Is there anything you will not put on the truck?
Anything flammable or pressurised — propane tanks, gasoline, paint thinner, aerosols, ammunition. Also perishable food, and live plants on long-distance moves. We will tell you what to move yourself well before the day.
My closing date might move. What then?
It happens on nearly every home purchase. Tell us as soon as you know and we will move you to the next date we have. If you need your things held for a few days between closings, we can arrange that instead of you renting a unit.
Do you work weekends?
Saturdays are a normal working day for us. Sundays we do by appointment — some apartment buildings do not allow moves on a Sunday, so we check the rules with your office first.
